  17. <p>    As host of her own talk show, Oprah Winfrey knows how to
  18. handle controversy. That skill came in handy as she produced a
  19. TV movie based on Gloria Naylor's novel The Women of Brewster
  20. Place. The four-hour drama, which airs over ABC in March, cast
  21. several popular black actresses as neighbors struggling through a
  22. '50s urban tenement. Among them, posing with Oprah, are Cicely
  23. Tyson, Robin Givens, Lonette McKee, Jackee and Lynn Whitfield.
  24. More than once, Oprah, who made the movie before her famous
  25. diet, had to cool things when egos heated up. Recalls Jackee: "I
  26. said to Oprah, `In years to come, you'll learn how to be a diva
  27. just like the rest of us.'" But Oprah knows that too many divas
  28. can spoil the plot.
